East Williamsburg/Bushwick, but trying to move back to the East Village
Born and bred New Yorker? Transplant, but moved here 8 years ago. I’ve had at least 6 different lives in those 8 years.
Best bagels in NY: Bagelsmith on Bedford. I hear it’s a great double date spot. #getdrunkoncreamcheese #makeoutwiththevitaminwaters
If you had an afternoon to spend at a museum, which would you pick? The Museum of Natural History. I’m a sort of secret science nerd. That museum makes me the happiest girl in the world. There’s video proof.
Best part about living in NY: Having so many things to do, places to go, and running into people you know on the street. If you don’t randomly run into at least one person you know walking around in this city, you’re doing it wrong.
Where are most of your clothes from? Cure Thrift Shop in the East Village, Urban Outfitters, and American Apparel
Best pizza in NY: L’asso in Nolita. They’re opening a new location in the East Village this fall too. I lived by the Nolita one for two years and ate there pretty much every day after work. EAT THE PIZZA. (That’s their tagline… I wasn’t trying to be confrontational or bossy or anything).
Meal you still dream about: The meatloaf at Peter’s Since 1969. I love meatloaf with a passion.
Best outdoor activity in the city: Dancing on the streets
Best indoor activity in the city: Dancing indoors.
What’s your local? Sake Bar Satsko in the East Village on 7th between B & C. I’ve been going there for around 5 years now; I practically live there. It’s really small, super cozy, sort of intimate, and really fun when it’s packed with people you know. I was introduced to the bar by my friend Mike Cosgrove (former drummer of the band Alien Ant Farm), and in the first night I was dancing on the bar to Britney Spears’ Toxic. A lot of locals, musicians, DJ’s, etc. hang there. I’ve met people who have become my best friends, as well as people who I look up to. Satkso herself is super awesome. <3 her 4evr.
How do you escape without actually leaving the city? By pitching a princess tent in my office.
If you could live anywhere in New York City, where would you live? I want to move back to the East Village or somewhere in the LES. Those are my stomping grounds. Need to get back to my homies.
Favorite part about summer in the city: Wandering around aimlessly through the streets with no real plans.
Strangest thing that’s ever happened to you in NY: I fell off a fire escape once at a house party in the East Village, and almost died. Not so much strange as really scary. *shrug*
Ideal first date: Going to a show (ideally the boy I’m on a date with is PLAYING the show), followed by hanging out in the green room, going bar hopping, and drinking a lot of whiskey (Jameson…duh). Throw in a few make-outs in there for good measure, and it’s the best date ever.
